Winter-Ops MilSim game – what is it about and why is it so special?

today I would like to talk (or write 😅) a bit about a MilSim event called Winter-Ops, which is organised here in Slovakia by my team, Peacekeepers.

The event takes place in a mountain environment, approximately 1000 m above sea level. Temperatures are quite low, currently reaching around -10 °C during the day and down to -20 °C at night. I am also attaching a video where you can see part of the area, which is already covered with a solid layer of snow.

This is not a classic airsoft game as most of us are used to. Basically, everything in this game depends on the players themselves – their tactics, team cooperation, creativity, physical endurance, and of course a strong will, as you need to fight not only against enemies, but also against snow and cold. And believe me, it is not easy.

The game is driven by specific missions. It is not a continuous 48-hour game; instead, the time is divided into individual missions. As every MilSimer would say, each mission requires proper briefing, planning, and preparation – and here, there is space for that. Before every mission, the team is properly briefed by its commander. Players must prepare a tactical plan, ready all necessary gear, and within a limited timeframe, complete the objective.

The catch is that you always have an OPFOR – the other teams – who will do everything to stop you from accomplishing your mission. You need to react quickly, think outside the box, and come up with solutions right in the middle of the battlefield. Of course, after each mission there is a debriefing, where operators and OPFOR sit together with commanders and discuss everything in detail.

Another major perk of this MilSim is that NVGs, thermal devices, and drones are allowed – and they are widely used by players. Every team, including commanders, uses ARES Alpha to see players live on the battlefield. This brings the game to a completely different tactical level and gives you a unique opportunity to experience these conditions firsthand.

To survive the briefings and off-time, players have access to heated accommodation with the option of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So if you are not into preparing MREs with frozen fingers in the snow, we’ve got you covered.

And why is it so special? It is a one-of-a-kind game in Slovakia, and I would say even in the surrounding countries. This MilSim will thoroughly test your tactical gear, clothing, physical and mental endurance, as well as your tactical thinking and team cooperation. And what’s more, you will gain an amazing experience and have an incredible amount of fun.
